Ottoman Turks vs Later Polish

Dave from the club wanted to test out his newly based Later Polish and Winged Hussars, so seemed like a good excuse to bring out the Ottoman Turks for a run.

The Turks won the initiative and chose to attack in the plans. They managed to get their favourite gentle hill with a field on it in their sector and the Azab bowmen knew where they were going.

My right hand flank had the Qapu Khulu and a couple of supporting Siphsis medium cav carbine to attack the flank of the Poles and hopefully cause some issues for Dave. What we didn’t expect was a very heavy cavalry wing with 4 Winged Hussars and a combination of Pancerni impact carbine cav.

Dave had a plantation on the left with an ambush, would the Polish Haiducks be hiding in there?

The Polish Mounted wing, they were going to be tough to break thru.

The Turks advanced rapidly to take the gentle hill and sprung the ambush in the plantation. Instead of Haiduks, Dave had more Pancerni impact cavalry!

The skirmishers fell back very quickly, allowing the elite Siphasis and Janissaries to protect the left flank while the heavy artillery attacked the pike & Shot.

The Janissaries in the centre rushed forward to take on the pike & shot, hoping to break thru before the Winged Hussars arrived. Due to some horrid command rolls, the Winged Hussars were very slow to advance and deal with the Ottoman Turk cavalry on their flank.

The Turks finally managed to break the Poles but at a high cost, being only 3 points of breaking. The Winged Hussars had broken thru the Janissaries in the centre and had ridden down both of the Turkish heavy artillery. The Turkish baggage was in a lot of trouble with a Winged Hussar bearing down on it.
